Mary Pat Turns 2!!!!!

Mary Pat turned 2 years old on Friday! We can't believe it's already been two years since we welcomed this precious little girl into our lives. The time really does fly when you're having fun! Our weekend was action packed with birthday activities and lots of playing with family and friends.

We kicked off the birthday festivities on Friday afternoon with a party for Mary Pat's class at school. Mommy and Daddy brought cookies, cupcakes, and Elmo party hats (that Mary Pat had picked out herself) to her class after nap time. Needless to say, everything was a big hit! There was complete silence as the kids ate their sweets. Michael came over from his class to join in the celebration and loved wearing his very own Elmo hat! After school, we went home to await the arrival of Nana and Victoria from SC. The birthday festivities continued once they arrived with pizza (Mary Pat's favorite) for dinner and lots of playing.

Here are some more pics from Friday's party. More pictures from the rest of the weekend's celebrations to come!
Passing out Elmo hats to her classmates.

Michael was VERY excited to help celebrate!
Michael loved his Elmo hat almost as much as Daddy!

Mary Pat was very excited to get a cupcake.
She tried to eat the entire thing in one bite.
The cupcakes were a big hit (and a big mess!).
Still shoving it in!
Happy girl!

Looking a little rough after her birthday celebration. Notice the orange sprinkle above her eye!

Cousin Silliness

Mary Pat had a great weekend playing with her Nana and big cousin Victoria. They came up from SC on Friday night in time for Mary Pat's birthday and helped us get ready for her party on Saturday. As you can see from these pictures taken Friday night (after Michael was fast asleep), the cousins had a blast playing with each other. We had two silly gooses on our hands! There are a few more pictures at this link.
Mutt and Jeff had to wear matching pajamas of course!
Victoria "driving" Mary Pat on the Winnie the Pooh train.
Silly cousins!

The giggle queens!
So much fun!

Michael Tries Rice Cereal

Michael has started to eat some rice cereal for dinner over the past couple of weeks. He wasn't so sure of it at first and would mainly spit it out as fast as Mommy could scoop it in! At his four month check up the doctor told us that we could add some veggies along with the cereal this week. Well, that made all the difference. He LOVES the veggies! So far we have tried sweet potatoes and squash and he seems to enjoy both of them. Mary Pat loves having her baby brother eating with her and they end up laughing at each other the entire time they are eating!
Enjoy the pictures below and a few more here.
Getting ready to try rice cereal in his bumbo.
Thanks for the bib Aunt Shay Baby! You really are AWESOME!!!!
Mom, what's taking so long?
I waited for this?!?!
Too busy smiling to swallow the food.
I'm not so sure about this stuff Mom.
Maybe it will taste better if I eat it off my bib?
These sweet potatoes make the rice cereal taste MUCH better!
Keep it coming Mom!
YUMMY!
I'm ready for some more.

Marchand Family Play Date!

A couple weekend ago we had the Marchand family over for a play date. Their baby, Brian, is about 3 1/2 weeks younger than Michael so they had a great time staring at each other. Mary Pat loved "Baby Brian" and was very sad when he had to leave. Unfortunately, the weather was ugly that day so we had to scrap our plans to go to the pool. The kids had fun playing in the house and the adults had fun catching up over an early dinner! We can't wait to see them again soon. Colleen, Baby Brian, Michael, Mommy, and Mary Pat Brian flashing a smile, Michael looking confused.
It was impossible to get both boys to look at the camera at the same time!
Here are a few more pictures from the day!

Family Party Fun

On Saturday, Daddy's Uncle Jim and Aunt Pat Howley hosted a wonderful family party at their house in Port Jefferson. Daddy's cousin Danny was visiting from Colorado with his wife Nikki and their kids Winter and Noah. It was great to see them and to enjoy the beautiful weather with many aunts, uncles and cousins!

Uncle Jim and Aunt Pat have a great backyard for parties, complete with a heated pool, trampoline, kid's playhouse/slide, and plenty of space to run around. Mary Pat and Daddy had a great time swimming and Mary Pat loved playing on the trampoline with her cousins Emily, Patrice, Keira and Samantha. Michael had a great time meeting new aunts, uncles and cousins while also showing off his tummy skills!

Here are some more pictures to show what a great day was had by all!

Four Months Old

We can't believe that our baby boy is already four months old today! Michael is getting bigger every day and is already wearing 6-month size clothes. We go to the doctor on Saturday for his check up and can't wait to see how much he has grown in a month. He has almost complete head control now which is great, Mommy and Daddy are relieved that his head isn't flopping around so much! This head control also means that he gets to sit in the Bumbo seat which is wonderful for everyone. Michael loves to have a more upright view of the action and enjoys sitting in the kitchen with everyone else while we eat.

One of Michael's favorite things to do in the Bumbo is to watch while Mary Pat shows him how to play with various toys. Of course, Mary Pat has decided that she likes all the baby toys again including the Bumbo seat. She has tried to pull Michael out of the seat once and tried to sit on him once. However, on the few occasions that she has managed to sit in the Bumbo seat herself, her chunky thighs have gotten stuck and she has begged "Mommy help. I stuck!" which is actually hilarious!

Michael talking to Mary Pat as she plays for him.
Mary Pat was eating Cheerios in between playing and tried to offer Michael one. He grabbed for it but Mommy was faster! Mary Pat also had yogurt as a snack at school this day which is why her dress is so dirty.
